This one has lots of options for expansion. This is just the beginning the mind can run wild with this starter.

This is my first post and I hope it will be useful to someone out there before my project is complete.
I have been looking into solar for awhile and would like to know more about how it works. There is a vast amount of information availiable in a variety of places. There is also an unlimited source of suppliers to buy the finished product as well as individual parts for the DIY hobbyist.
This is where I currently find myself. After watching many Youtube videos a fellow named Mark from the Mobile, AL area caught my attention. He seemed to have a desire to teach people to build efficient equipment that my grand kids may get to use someday. I communicated with him and found his attitude helpful whether I was buyinmg anything or not. A link to his first instruction video is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2UxOY_wpFo). Mark has made several videos on this subject and you can find them linked from the one listed above.
It has been pointed out by a friend that I could probably buy a solar collector panel for less than it cost to build my own. There is no argument on my part to the validity of this observation. In the end I probably wouldn't have any greater understanding of the process. Therefore, I decided to build my own and the project will begin soon I hope.
I will try to keep this site updated with the progress and even share snapshots if possible. Who knows. There could possibly be a small video clip that comes out of the project.
Stay tuned.
P.S. If you are knowledgeable of this process please let me know if you are willing to share some of your wisdom.

Hello All, Was out on the net and found this site that had some cheap affordable stuff. The one thing I looked hard at was a Solar Panel with Charge Controller. I would be great to use to charge a battery for QRP or for Emergency use to run a HAM Rig. www.sciplus.com/s/c_3/sf_34Richard KD5FOX
