Wow! What a great meeting we had this month to kick off the new year. The radio room is looking awesome, the fox hunt group is doing new and great things, test sessions are happening, QRP group is humming along as well. LOCOARC has a lot going on for such a small group of folks, and that's wonderful!
I especially liked the tape measure j-pole presentation by Ken, AD5DO. I know I have built a few different j-poles in my few years as ham and I still learned a good bit.
After last night's meeting we now know several members have access to projectors, which is a huge benefit. I know we have already mentioned an Echolink demo, but what are some other practical presentations other members would like to see or present them self? What about how to zero-beat a CW station? Pass message traffic? I'm asking. Some talks of APRS have some members wanting to know more and others may not be interested until they know more about it. So, I plan on working on a presentation describing the mode, practical uses, equipment, useful web links and such. I work a lot of hours. It may take a while but it will be fun.

I enjoyed the video on fox hunting at the last meeting.
I would be interested in giving a talk about CW and zero beating if that would be useful.
I like the meetings short and the having a bit of a technical subject at the end.
Other topic suggestions:
Overview of our repeater systems Software defined radio Construction topics Radio reviews and/or how to tell a good radio from a better one. Propagation DXing Station control topics (antenna switching, signal monitoring, power/frequency measurements, lightning protection, etc) Electronics topics (tubes, solid state, circuit reading, simulation, all sorts of stuff)
I could probably think of some more given time.

Thought of some more topics:
Amateur radio magazines and websites Amateur radio history Amateur radio organization, regulation and politics (ARRL, IARU, FCC, ITU)

I have two new DVDs which I could show at a regular or extra meeting.
One is USA ARDF Championship 2006 (foxhunting on foot). The other is Standing Up for Standing Waves, World Class Antenna and Transmission Line Demonstration.
Also I have a Flex3000 SDR I could bring and hook up to the projector and demonstrate, if interest exists.
The only thing I wonder about if it is the right move just to bring something and show it after the business meeting, maybe not all are interested.
Preferably we ought to have a small committee to develop topics for coming meetings, regular or extra.
But I fully agree we should try to have something organized and prepared to follow the business meetings or as separate meetings
What do you think?
