Speaking from a personal view, I had a wonderful time with my fellow hams Saturday looking for the fox. Fellowship like we had is a great way to share you skills with others I look forward to being with my friends looking for the next fox. The antennas that KF5EVR and N5MVF made are the ones to use they are great. Hope to see you all at the next hunt.

Looks like we are supposed to have beautiful WX for the 12 January fox hunt. The forecast says sunny and 73 degrees. Lets hope that is the case. I just might get to attend, too!

It seems I have a real problem, my practice Arduino based Fox Hunt transmitter is working (see other posting). The transmitter I use is the Baofeng UV-5R set on 1W and I tried it yesterday.
Apparently my antenna and handheld receiver are to sensitive together, I need to be at least a mile away to be able to distinguish a difference in different directions when closer it is full signal everywhere.
Anybody have an idea how to fix it? My set-up seems to be to sensitive. I need a quick (temporary?) fix for the Saturday foxhunt.

Loosen your hose clamps and remove your director and reflector elements. This will leave you with a dipole in the center. Rotating the boom between horizontal and vertical polarization can help pin-point a signal. AD5DO mentioned in our on air discussion to turn the antenna around backwards an let the reflector block some signal.
