While at Jackson Hamfest I attended a Winlink 2000 forum class. Tim N5UDK was the teacher/presenter and gave us an excellent overview and demonstration of the HF email system. He handed out a DVD with the software and instructions. I just got it working on my Flex 3000 and it is amazing to be able to send email via a HF transceiver to any email account in the world. If you are interested I can try to help you out. The best starting point is the Winlink 2000 homepage www.winlink.org/Since this is a digital mode, a computer and in most cases an external soundcard/radio interface is needed. A good one is SignaLink www.tigertronics.com/ and it usable for all digital modes.

I received your e-mail via Winlink. I sent a reply a short time later. Winlink is one tool I do not have in my toolbox. My limitation is my radio since it isn't able to be controlled by CPU for Winmor. Unlike other modes where you stay one one frequency, you have to control the rig automatically for it to be frequency agile because it shifts frequencies up and down.

The digital modes on Flexradio are finicky to deal with, since everything is done internally in the computer by a series of software programs configured to each other in detail. The Winmor software configuration is real difficult and unstable, most of the time I am unsuccessful to establish a good connection. I haven't been able to retrieve your email yet. It is probably much easier with an external SignaLink and a regular rig. Thanks for replying to my RF mail and I will continue to try to retrieve it. It is always an option to do it via Telnet and Internet, but that defeats the purpose. I might buy me a SignaLink and try it on the club Kenwood radio. What device did you use with Hellschreiber?

I use a RigBlaster Plus on my Kenwood TS430S.
