2-20-2013 FCC ASSIGNED ME THE CALLSIGN K5YXA. I WAS ISSUED THIS CALLSIGN AS A CONDITIONAL CLASS LICENSEE IN JANUARY 1960. DUE TO NEW MILITARY OBLIGATIONS I LET THE LICENSE EXPIRE. OLD THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW!

Morris, My very best congratulations to your new/old callsign! I googled K5YXA and this is what came up: hamcall.net/call/K5YXA:1960Morris N. Adair, K5YXA:1960 RFD l Box 350 Bossier City, LA USAI wonder what kind of radio(s) you had then, it would be very interesting to know. Also CW was mandatory at that time and one had to go to an FCC official and pass an proficiency test in order to get the license to operate. How was that? In a month or so I will celebrate my one year anniversary of passing my first license exam, you, Ken and Drew where the VE's. Before I met you I had never met or knew any ham operator, I overheard you on the repeater, called you and got tested. The rest is story. 73 By the way YXA is a Swedish word, if want to know what, I'll tell you.
